Abla Amad was born in Lebanon and arrived in Australia in 1954 at the age of nineteen. In 1979 at the urging of friends and family she opened Abla’s, a restaurant that has become a Melbourne institution. Ever since it opened, diners have returned time and again to experience her special brand of traditional, homemade Lebanese food.
Abla's, in Carlton, Melbourne, is where you may indulge in authentic Lebanese cuisine of the highest calibre. Abla Amad is an icon in the Lebanese community and prides herself on 40 years plus serving delicious Lebanese food.
A humble Lebanese restaurant whose menu doesn't do their food half the justice that it deserves. Completely rewrote my rhetoric view on 'Chicken and rice' with their wholesome combination (and twist) of a generic dish. Their vegetarian menu was worth a try with the unmissable authentic and buttery Mjadra paired with yogurt. The 'doneness' of the falafels have being inconsistent. But their Shish ta Wouk has being the best chicken on a skewer I've ever had (and I love everything on a stick). 5/5 if you want to impress your peers with your culture wokeness.
Excellent food, excellent service, you feel home and the taste of North Labanon is every wheee. The Kebbe are so thin and tasty and the stuffing is not oily. The taste of Home. U should not miss Abla عبلا. And smiles are on the face of everyone makes you feeling very welcome . The real Lebanese spirit .
Still the most authentic place to experience Lebanese cuisine in Melbourne, the traditional way.Alba’s never disappoints and always consistent with taste, freshness, and serve generosity. The staff are friendly and hospitable. The atmosphere is cozy. Make sure to try the Lebanese beer/wines.
Abla's Lebanese food in Melbourne is some of the best I have found outside the Middle East - omg! their chicken livers are divine! This is not to be missed - sublime Lebanese cuisine! Abla the owner is always there and will personally visit your table for an intimate chat to ensure you are OK and well looked after - a REAL family enterprise. Make sure you book as it is very popular!
Delicious food, made with love not pretension. Friendly, helpful & efficient staff. Make sure you book otherwise you might not be a be to get a table. Will be recommending to friends and family who live here. I'll be back next time I'm in Melbourne.
Perfect ! Good for a couple or family (always a good sign that both can fit). Service is more than good. A bit too fast but that's my french culture 🙂 The food is excellent and at the very descent price. Go there !!
This place was fantastic! Staff went out of their way to cater for my dietary requirements and were incredibly helpful. The food itself was so so tasty!

I could eat here every night if I was allowed. The food has amazing flavours and is healthy. We always order to share that way we all get to taste the great food. You will need to book ahead as it is that good.
